I'm quoted in this article about the pending eradication of Guinea Worm disease, a parasitic infection that once resulted in immense human suffering and death. Many years ago, in the early days of the web, I created a satiric website for a fictional organization that claimed to represent the interests of the "endangered" parasite.
Later, I no longer saw the site as particularly insightful parody, and planned to pull the plug on it. But the site has found an odd second life. Teachers are using it to instruct their students on filtering fact from fiction when performing online research. So it remains, as much an artifact of a time when I thought myself a brilliant online satirist, as it is a relic of a world afflicted with guinea worms.
