I'm at the World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga Springs, NY - my first literary convention. I might go so far as label it my first convention of any kind, not counting conferences I attended when I worked in international health. Regardless, I expect the discussions will feel markedly different from when the topic was HIV infection rates in people under 25 in sub-Saharan Africa. I'm particularly looking forward to a panel on hand-to-hand combat, which will come in handy with the book I'm completing.
I'm lucky enough to be bunking with an old friend, author Robert V.S. Redick, who is generously allowing me to cling to his coat tails for some of the ride.
I'll be sending out a more detailed after-action report to my mailing list, so sign up if that interests you.
